Equinox Same but Different
Live Performance in Public Space Worldwide since 2016
Equinox – Same but different is an international day for public actions for freedom for all people. Each year on the Equinoxes, (~20.03. and 22.09.) the duration of day and night is approximately equal around the globe. In this spirit of cosmic equality, the event serves as a global connection for people performing together in public spaces. This sharing of time and space brings us closer together as a temporary (global) community by encouraging non-violent expressions for locally specific conditions through performance art. Everyone is welcome to participate with openness and in solidarity, embracing and embodying diversity whilst acknowledging each other’s individual circumstances, difficulties, and conflicts.
For this purpose, everyone is welcome to join and/or organize a group performance. The following conditions should be fulfilled if there are no external restrictions:
- The event should take place as close as possible to the dates of the Equinox(es)
- The event encourages performative group work with at least two people performing together
- The event should take place in a public space.
- The event is open offering the possibility for everyone interested to get involved

Hvert år på jevndøgn, (~20.03. og 22.09.) varer natt og dag omtrent like lenge over hele kloden. I
denne ånden av kosmisk likhet skal arrangementet fungere som en global handling der
mennesker holder performancer sammen i det offentlige rom. Denne delte tiden av tid og rom
bringer oss nærmere hverandre, som et globalt samfunn, ved å oppmuntre til ikke-voldelige
uttrykksformer for lokale stedsspesifikke forhold gjennom performancekunst. Alle er velkomne til
å delta i åpenhet og solidaritet, til å omfavne og legemliggjøre mangfold, samtidig som en
anerkjenner hverandres individuelle omstendigheter, utfordringer og konflikter,
Alle er velkomne til å delta i – eller organisere en – gruppeforestilling. Følgende forutsetninger
skal etterfølges, såfremt det ikke foreligger eksterne andre begrensninger:
Arrangementet bør finne sted så nærme datoene for jevndøgn(ene) som mulig
Arrangementet oppmuntrer til performativt gruppearbeid med minst to personer som
opptrer sammen
Arrangementet bør foregå i et offentlig rom.
Arrangementet er åpent, så det er mulighet for alle interesserte å delta

Est une journée internationale d'actions publiques en faveur de la liberté pour tous les
peuples.
Chaque année, aux équinoxes, (~20.03. et 22.09.) la durée du jour et de la nuit est
approximativement égale sur la totalité du globe.
Dans ce contexte égalité cosmique; l’événement agit en tant que connexion mondiale entre
les personnes qui se produisent ensemble dans les espaces publics. Ce partage du temps et
de l’espace nous rassemble en une communauté provisoire (mondiale) et encourage
l’expression non violente de situations locales spécifiques par le biais de l’art de la
performance.
Toute personne est invitée à participer dans un esprit d’ouverture et de solidarité, en
accueillant et en incarnant la diversité tout en reconnaissant les conditions, les difficultés et
les conflits individuels de chacun.e.
À ce titre, toute personne est invitée à rejoindre et/ou à organiser une performance de
groupe. Les conditions suivantes doivent être respectées pour autant qu’il n’y ait pas de
restrictions externes :
– L’événement doit se dérouler le plus près possible des dates d’équinoxe(s).
– L’événement privilégie le travail de performance collective, composé d’au moins deux
personnes intervenant ensemble.
– L’événement doit avoir lieu dans l’espace public.
– L’événement est ouvert et offre la possibilité à toute personne intéressée de s’impliquer.
是為所有人以公共行動爭取自由的國際日。每年的春/秋分（約3月20日和9月22日），全球晝
夜持續時間大致相同。本著這宏大的平等精神，該活動為在公共場所一起以行為藝術創作的人
們，提供了全球性的聯繫。這種共享的時間和空間成為了臨時（全球）的社區，令我們更緊密
地聯繫在一起，鼓勵通過行為藝術為當地特定的狀況作非暴力的表達。歡迎任何人士以開放和
團結的態度參與、擁抱和體現多樣性，同時認知彼此特有的情況、苦困和矛盾。
為此，歡迎大家參加或組織集體行為現場，如果沒有外在限制的情況下，活動應履行以下條件
：
活動的日期應盡可能接近春/秋分；
活動鼓勵以最少兩人或以上的群體形式實施；
活動應該在公共地方舉行；

Equinócio Igual mas diferente
É um dia internacional para ações públicas pela liberdade de todas as pessoas. A cada ano nos equinócios (março e setembro) a duração do dia e da noite é aproximadamente igual em todo o mundo. Nesse espírito de igualdade cósmica, o evento serve como uma conexão global para pessoas performarem juntas em espaços públicos. Esse compartilhamento de tempo e espaço nos aproxima como uma comunidade temporária (global), incentivando expressões não violentas para condições locais específicas por meio da performance arte. Todos são bem-vindos a participar com abertura e solidariedade, abraçando e incorporando a diversidade, reconhecendo as circunstâncias, dificuldades e conflitos individuais de cada um. Para efeito, todos são bem-vindos a participar e/ou organizar uma performance em grupo. As seguintes condições devem ser cumpridas se não houver restrições externas:
- O evento deve ocorrer o mais próximo possível das datas do(s) Equinócio(s);
- O evento incentiva trabalhos de performance em grupo com pelo menos duas pessoas performando juntas;
- O evento deve ocorrer em um espaço público;
- O evento é aberto e oferece a possibilidade de participação de todos os interessados.

毎年、春分と秋分の日(~20.03. と 22.09.)には、昼と夜の長さが世界中でほぼ等しくな
ります。この宇宙的平等の精神の中で、このイベントは、人々が公共の場で一緒にパフォ
ーマンスするグローバルなつながりをもたらします。この時間と空間の共有は、一時的な
(グローバルな) コミュニティとして、パフォーマンスアートを通じて地域固有の状況に
対する非暴力的な表現を奨励し、私たちをより緊密にします。誰もがオープンに参加し、
連帯と多様性の許容と体現を通じて、お互いの個々の状況、困難、葛藤を認め合います。
この目的のために、誰でもグループパフォーマンスに参加したり、オーガナイズできます
。もし、外部制限がない場合には、次の条件を満たす必要があります。：

This idea of exploring the interconnected role of the performative collaboration and the citizen in shaping and transforming public space has been a fundamental endeavor of Same but Different Equinox and its artists worldwide since a symposium hosted by Bbeyond in Belfast in 2017. During this event, Chumpon Apisuk proposed a day of public action as a follow-up to Same Difference: Equinox to Equinox (September 2016), where 283 artists from around the world (45 locations in 29 countries) worked together in public spaces.
More and more countries are experiencing social unrest due to the rise of governmental restrictions on basic human rights. Every continent is experiencing some form of repression of civil liberties, be it individual, social, economic, political, religious, cultural, or environmental. These rights are at the forefront of what makes us human and shape civil society.
The global discourse initiated by Same but Different Equinox is based on an openness to talk about public space as a social and political sphere. The pandemic has increasingly shown us that public space is essential for community life. It is a place of physical creation that is repeatedly claimed and interpreted by a variety of groups and movements.
